이 논문은 감말봉의 첫 장편소설 「밀림」과 「찔레꽃」에 나타난 삭가의 사상과 그 소설화 방식을 실펴본 글이다. 김밀봉은 30여 년의 작가할동기간 단면소설은 20면을 쓴 반면 장편소설을30편을 쓴 장편작기이다. 동시에 대중보다 소수의 지식인을 위한 문학이 문단의 권력으로 자리를 집고 있는 당대에 자신을 대중소섭을 쓰는 작가회 천명을 한 작가이기도하다 그의 소설은크게 성공을 하여 그는 인기 대중소셜 작가가 되었다. 그리하여 그의 문학에 대한 병기는 대중 장편소설 「밀림」을 집필 연재하는 도중 「동아일보」 정간으로 집필이 중단되는 동안 조선일보에 「찔레꽃」이 연재되었고, 이후 「밀림」이 계속 쓰여졌던 정을 중시하고 두 작품을 함께 읽어야 한다는 주장과 함께 비교 검토하면서 작가의 사상이 소설화 방식에 어떻게 영상을 마치고 있는지실피본 것이다. 이 논문은 「찔레꽃」과 달리 「밀림」은 신문에 발표된 작품과 단행본으로 출간된 작품의 내용이 달리 연구자들이 김말봉의 문화을 제대로 평가하고 있지 못하고 있으며, 또한 김말봉의 문학사상을 이해함이 없이 직품 분석에 임함에 따라 작품해석에 오류가 있음을 밝혔다. 동시에밝혀지지 않았던 김말봉의 첫 결혼에 대한 증언을 확보하고 일본 유학기의 학적을 확인항으로써 작가의식의 형성에 미친 체험을 새로 밝혀 작품 해석의 자료로 제시하였다. 작가는 자신의 초기 글에서부터 드러낸 아나키즘 사상을 소설화한다. 첫째, 사회주의 등, 제도나 권위를 바탕으로 한 의식이 아니라 대중 속으로 뛰어들어 대중과 함께 생활함으로써 대중의 구원을 모색하는 행동형 인물 '유동섭' 과 '조경구' 를 창조하였다. 둘째 대중소설의 정석으로해석되는 「찔레꽃」도 단순히 흥미를 유발하기 위한 애정소설이 아니라 삶의 비극적 인식으로여성의 수난을 그리고 있으며 이 역시 작가의 사상을 드러내는 한 구조로 해석된다는 것이 이논문의 주장이다. 또한 김말봉은 정의를 키워드로 하는 아나키즘의 영향으로 소설 속에 항일애국의식을 직설적으로 드러내고 있는 점을 밝혀 작가가 홍미 위주의 대중소설을 쓴 것만이 아니라 '대중을 위한 소설을 썼음을 논증해 보았다.

This paper is about first novel ‘Jungle’ and ‘Wild Rose’ by Mal-bong Kim regarding the author's ideas and the way of novelistic form. Mal bong Kim is considered as a full-length novel author who wrote twenty short stories and had done thirty long novels. She also claims herself as a popular novel author in the days the literature for a few intellectuals is stronger than the popular literature for the general public. Her work were big success and she became a famous popular novel author. Therefore, the criticism for her works have been done in the boundaries of the popular literature and among her works only 'Wild Rose’ was focused. This paper aims the influence how the author's idea affects the way of novelistic form with analyzing the assertion that ‘Jungle’ and ‘Wild Rose’ should be read together since even the serial novel ‘Jungle' was discontinued due lo ’Dong-A Ilbo’ had suspended publication and during that period another serial novel ‘Wild Rose’ was published serially on 'Chosun Ilbo’. This paper also shows that there are some errors in the comments of the critics since the difference between the separate volume and the serial novel on the papers of Jungle led the critics to analyze the work without fully understanding of the author's literary world. The unrevealed evidence about the author's first marriage and the school register in Japan are found and presented here as new materials to show how these affected the formation of the author's literary world. The author novelizes the Anarchism from her early works. First, she created the active characters ‘Dong-sub You’ and ‘Kyung-gu Cho’ who grope the public salvation. They run into the midst of the public and make living with them rather have ideologies which are based on the authorities and systems such as Socialism. Second, in ‘Wild Rose’, often interpreted as a type of popular novel, she describes women's sufferings with the tragic recognition of the life rather making it a love story which would arouse the public interest. This also is one of the way to show her literary world. Third, this paper shows that the author wrote popular novels not only Tor public interest' but also 'for the public" with the direct exposure of her patriotism against Japan in her novels under the influence of the Anarchism.
