페미니즘이 사회의 새로운 담론으로 부상하고 있는 현실을 바탕으로 남성 영역에 뛰어든 여성을보여주는 영화 <조폭마누라>는 여성을 타자로만 인식해온 기존 영화의 주류에 대한 진지한 반론을제기하느냐 혹은 또 다른 방식으로서의 타자화된 여성을 그릴뿐이나는 판단의 기로에 서 있다. 곧단순한 오락영화로 남느냐 혹은 지배적인 여성 유형에 대한 대안을 실천하느나 하는 것이다. 문화적 차원에서 복장전도는 옷과 몸의 차이에 대한 유회를 통해 사회적으로 구축된 성적 차이를 전경화한다. 신은경의 절제되고 간략하며 변화없이 건조한 복장은 복장전도의 암시성을 내포하며 진실에의 도전적 유희를 시도한다. 그러나 <조쪽마누라>의 복장전도서사는 성정체성과 성적 차이를 문제삼기는 하지만 결국에는 양자의 절대성을 재확인하고 고정된 젠더와 통일된 주체의 당연한 질서를 확인하는 데 머문다. 남성적 신체와 언행과 복장의 신은경이 압박붕대로 감싸맨 가슴을 감추고 있다는 사실과 여성적 육체의 한 극단적 표징이라 할 수 있는 임신을 했다는 준엄한 현실은 여성 신체와 젠더의 의미를 되새기게 한다. 억압자의 담론에 대해 저항하는 신체로 보이는 듯한 신은경의 몸은 그 안에 생명을 담은 자궁을 가지고 있다는 새삼스러운 현실에 의해 전복된다. 모성성으로 대표되는 여성성의 문제를 남성적 복장전도와 외적인 모방만으로 헤쳐나갈 수 있을 것인가 하는 문제적 지점에영화는 도달한다. 유일한 혈육 언니는 남성적 젠더를 선택한 신은경에게 전통적 가치관을 입력하고 제도권내의가부장제적 가치관을 교육한다. 영화의 내러티브를 실질적으로 이끌어가는 사람은 신은경이 아니라 죽어가면서도 줄기차게 가부장제를 주입하는 남성의 대변자 언니라는 놀라운 사실이 은폐되어 있다. 절정부에서 흔자 수십 명과 싸우는 신이 화려하게 펼쳐지지만 신은경은 패배하고 유산한다. 마침 나타난 보스가 구해주지 않았던들 목숨마저 보존하기 어려운 상황에 처해 있었다. 아무리강한 여성이라도 궁극적으로는 남성의 보호와 그늘을 떠나 살 수는 없다는 결론을 반복함으로써젠더 이데올로기 재생산과정의 복귀 현상을 보여주는 것이다. 이렇게 영화의 외적인 표현과 내적인 주장의 어긋남은 비일상과 일탈 그리고 변형된 웃음 등으로 조합되어 있다. 그리고 그 이면은 은밀하게 감추어지고 외적인 포장으로 성공을 거두었다. 결국 <조폭마누라>는 여성의 일탈과 비정상은 여전히 남성적 보호에서 벗어날 수 없으며 중심은아무리 주변의 저항을 받아도 쉽게 무너지지 않는다는 강력한 담론을 보여준다. 또한 역담론의형성을 허용하는 듯하면서도 은밀히 저지하는 권력, 여성 정체성을 구축하고 표방하는역담론을규범을 벗어난 변태성으로 규정하는 권력을 볼 수 있다.

The movie stands at the crossroads of such judgement that the movie is a truely new movie or not. This tries the merrymaking and challenge about the truth. The costume upset narrative of this movie stresses sexual identity and difference. But it reaffirm the importance of the sexual identity and difference finally. And it stays at the place which confirmes fixed gender and order of self. The actress of the speech and behavior and a mannish body and outfit is hiding a chest by the pressure bandage. And she did pregnancy as extreme sign of the woman body. This reality makes to bear in mind the meaning of the woman body and gender. The body of this actress means the resistance to the discourse of the men. But this is overthrown by reality that the body of the actress has the womb to put the life. The movie reaches at the important point that how we can solve the problem of the sexuality of woman which is represented as the motherhood. The elder sister who is the deputy of mother inputs traditional values and gender to the heroine of this movie. She educates a patriarchal sense of values of this society system. A surprising fact that the elder sister who pours the patriarchal values into our heroine so strong leads the narrative of the movic is concealed. She fights alone against many men at climax. She loses and her baby is dead in her body though this action scene comes to spread splendidly. The boss to appear at that time gives everything to the rival. She was in so unlucky position not to preserve life if her boss did not rescue her at the difficult situation. This scene is repeating this conclusion that a woman can not leave the shadow of man and live without the protection of man ultimately however independent she is. This shows a return phenomenon in gender ideology. The expression and contention of this movie are different in this way. This movie is mixed with the smile to be transformed. A lot of meanings came to hide and the movie achieved the success by new packaging style. This movie shows strong discourse that woman can not escape from a protection of man and the center does not fall down easily however it takes the resist of the circumstance. This movie seems to permit a new discourse formation but this movie smiles at the power of society to block it secretly.
