본고의 목적은 제국주의 권력 아래 수행된 전향에 작용하는 전항자의 권력과 욕망의 무의식이 소설에서 어떻게 담른화되어 주체를 구성해 내고 있는지를 살핌으로써, 더 나아가 일반론적으로 전향론의 주체 구성에 젠더 문제가 어떠한 메커니즘으로 작동하고 재구성되는지를 살피려는 데 있다. 한국의 전향은 특히 '권력의 강제에 의한 전향 에서 권력의 주체가 다름 아닌 일본이 있기 때문에 전향한다는 것은 지식인으로서 치명적인 양심에 반한 행동으로 규정될 수밖에 없었다. 식민주의에서 쉽게 벗어나기 어려운 것은 식민지인인 주체가 제국의 이미지적인 권력에서 스스로 벗어나지 못하는 가운데 있으며, 제국주의가 또 다른 남근적 권위로서의 이데올로기와 합세하여식민지 남성 주체의 정체성읍 형성하기 때문이다. 김남천과 한설야의 전향소설에서는 남성 주체에 의해 여성의 몸, 아내의 섹슈얼리티가 발견된다. 남성의 시선으로 발견되는 옹시 대상인 여성들의 몸은 세속화와 타락의 과정을 거쳐 구성된다. 이에 권력이 개입하고 그 권력이 반권력으로서의 자기(self)를 정당화하기 위한 방어기제로서의 구성력으로 작용하고 있다. 여성이 역사에서 영웅적 역할을 할 수 있는 유일한 기회는 남성지배적, 가부장적 권력이 붕괴되는 순간에 있다. 남성 권위와 권력의 위기 담론을 여성의 출현으로 재현해내는 방식에 주목하는 것은 중요한 지점이다. 이로써 가부장적 남권주의와 제국주의적 식민지라는 이중의 권위 속에서의 주체 불안운 여성의 신체와 섹슈얼리티에 대한 폭력적 이미지로 재현됨을 알 수 있다. 그러나 이러한 폭력은 곧 남성 주체 자신에 대한 매저키즘적 쾌락으로흐르고 있다. 결국은 하나의 완전한 정체성을 재정립해 나가기 위한 오이디푸스의 열망과 불안이 1930년대 후반기 이후 등장한 전향자의 불안과 열망에 닿아 있었던 것으로 짐작해 볼 수 있다.

The female's body, male's gaze object, were constructed through a course of the secular and debasement. Power are intervene in this course, and the power operation as a constituent energy as a defensive measures - in order to is justified self as counter-power. Only chance which the woman are able to play as hero in history, is moment in the collapse of the masculine and patriarchal system. A male subject was represented authorial insecurity after conversion as the gender-oriented narrative structure. That was connected political misogyny form. This aspect represented with a bodily falling process and abhor form. Male subjectivity in conversion novels was formed ambivalence and defense mechanism of their power and authority.
