허난설헌은 여성의 글쓰기 자체가 용납되지 않던 시기에, 중국에서 먼저 문명을 떨치고 찬사를 받았던 사대부가의 여인이다. 그간 허난설헌의 한시는 눈물과 좌절의 이미지, 현실로부터의 일탈과 대리 만족, 환상성의 구현, 여성성의 자각 등으로 고찰되었다. 본고는 기준의 시각에서 한걸음 진전하여 난설헌의 시가 적극적인 여성주의적 미학을 실현했다고 본다. 이에 따라 허난설헌 시를 총체적으로 규정짓는 핵심 의미망을 '욕망' 으로 보고자 하였다. 난설헌의 시에서 드러나는 욕망의 표출양상은 세 가지로 정리할 수 있다. 첫째, 공적 영역으로의 확장 욕망이다. 사회적 관심과 전쟁, 군사, 노동과 소외, 국가관 등이 드러나는 일련의 사건은 공적 영역으로의 확장을 열망하며 쓰여진 것으로 보았다. 둘째, 낭만적 사랑과 성애 의식에 대한 유망이다. 인간의 본능적 측면을 궁정하고, 성적 욕구를 대담하게 표현하고 있는 사틀을 살폈다. 셋째, 낙원의 여신이 되고 싶은 욕망이다. 화려한 공간 속에서 자유로운 의지가 실현되는 세계로 선계가 설정되며, 따뜻한 사랑과 배려가 넘치는 여신들의 세계를 그렸다. 이러한 욕망의 정서는 여성적 표현 양상으로 구체화된다. 또한 난설헌의 글쓰기는 여성적 정체성을 나타내주는 모형이 된다. 생활언어의 구체적 묘사, 감각적이고 관능적인 시어, 여성주의적 상상력 등이 난설힌 글쓰기의 특징이다. 이러한 점이 난설현 한시의 총체적 미학으로 드러나고 있으며, 욕망의 시 속에서도 현실적 자아를 초월하지 못했던 삶의 실상이 슬픈 시선으로 그려져 있다는 점을 논의하였다. 난설현 한시는 이론 시기여성의 억압에 맞선 욕망의 체계와 좌절을 그러내었다는 점에서 여성문학사적으로 큰 의미를 지니고 있다.

Heonanseolhun's characteristic is concretization of life speech, thoughtful words and female fantasy. Heonanseolhun's poetry has very great importance for woman's literature, which in the carly periods where women's right downgraded and hence doomed to failure.
