이 글에서는 여성주의 문학연구란 과연 어떻게 하는 것이며 그것이 문학작품의 해석과 문학사 인식을 위해 실제로 얼마나 유용한가 하는 문제를 논의한다. 이러한 문제기가 필요한 것은 문학뿐 아니라 거의 모든 학문분야에서 여성주의 관점이 필요하다는 당위는 어느 정도 확보되었지만 , 여성주의 문학연구의 성과가 소수의 전공자들 사이에서만 소통되는 경향이 강해서 실제로 그 유용성에 대한 광범위한 동의와 합의는 아직 이루어지지 않았다고 판단하기 때문이다.여성주의 문학연구란 요컨대 여성담론과 여성어문활동에 대한 젠더 분석이라 할 수 있다 . 여기서 젠더란 성차에 관한 지식 혹은 시스템을 가리키는데 , 그것은 문화적으로 구성되고 역사적으로 변화하는 것으로 , 원시고대로부터 중8 여성문학연구 16세와 근대에 이르기까지 다양한 문학 텍스트를 통해 재현된다 . 여성주의 문학연구는 결국 문학작품과 문학현상을 대상으로 여성담론과 여성어문활동이 어떻게 문화적으로 구성되고 역사적으로 변화해 왔는가를 적극적으로 해명하는 작업인 것이다. 여성주의 문학연구는 고전문학 분야에서도 활발하게 이루어져 최근 몇 년 사이에 그 성과가 상당히 집적되었다 . 이 글에서는 특히 ‘여신의 서사’와 ‘열녀의 서사’에 대한 재해석을 여성담론 연구의 사례로 들어 , 그것이 각기 고대문학사와 중세문학사를 새롭게 인식하는 데까지 나아가고 있음을 살폈다 . 또한 기존에는 주변적 글쓰기로 치부되던 중세의 여성 글쓰기를 재조명함으로써 문학적 가치에 대한 새로운 문제를 제기한 연구사례를 들어, 여성어문활동에 대한 연구가 고전문학사 재인식에 기여할 수 있음을 보였다 .끝으로, 여성주의 문학연구의 유용성을 높이기 위해서는 현실적으로 그러한 연구 성과의 대중적 확산에도 유념해야 한다는 견해를 피력하였다 . 여성주의 문학연구의 성과가 학계의 소수 전공자들 사이에서 생산 소비되는 데 그치지 않고 여러 층위의 교육제도를 통해 확산될 수 있을 때 , 여성주의 연구가 의도하는 소기의 목적을 달성할 수 있다고 보는 것이다 .

It seems that a few denies the necessity of feminist study of almost every academic sphere, but it doesn't mean that they sincerely understand diverse results of it. It times that we should be interested in its usefulness.Feminist study of literature has progressed in two fields. One is discourse on women, another is women's literary lives. The most important thing is to interpretate 'gender' in literary history, of course based on correct understanding of literary texts and literary phenomena around them. Gender means 'a knowledge of difference between the sexes', 'a system of difference between the sexes'. Feminist study of literature is to analyze 'a knowledge or a system of diference between the sexes' in literary texts and phenomena.
