「근우(槿友)」는 근우회의 기관지로서 총 1회 발간되었다. 근우회는 좌우합작 단체였던 신간회의 자매단체의 성격을 띠고 있었는데 이후 일제의 사회주의자들에 대한 탄압과 신간회 해소를 둘러싼 논쟁이 모든 통일전선적 단체로파급되면서 해소 결의도 못한 채 해소되고 만다. 「근우」는 근우회의 합작 당시성격을 그대로 담아내고자 하는 발간 취지를 가지고 있었는데, 그것은 무궁화자매라는 것이었다. 민족 전통으로서의 무궁화와 이후 근우회의 지향으로서의붉은 여성은 근우회를 넘어서는 여성운동의 전통을 만들어내게 된다. 이러한전통은 운동의 역량 강화와 방향성을 위해 의도적으로 만들어진 것으로, 근대민족운동의 과정에서 목도되었던, 창조된 전통의 한 사례로 분석될 수 있다. 조선을 넘어서는 한민족의 전통으로서의 무궁화가 근대적 전통(傳統)으로 재창조되는 과정에서 여성운동의 역량 강화를 위해 도입되었다면, 여성운동의 이후의 방향성을 제시하는 새로운 전통으로 제시되었던 것이 적기(赤旗)이다. 적기는 여성운동이 노동농민여성을 중심으로 하는 사회주의 전통을 수립해가는 과정에서 의도적으로 제시되었다. 무궁화 자매와 적기는 여성운동의 방향성과 전통을 제시하는 상징이 되었다. 홉스봄의 만들어진 전통이 근대적 전통에 대한 부정적 인식을 위한 것이었다면, 우리의 근대전통은 반제반봉건을 위한 민족의식으로서 창조되었다는 점에서 차이가 있다고 할 수 있다.

Like this tradition respects the ability reinforcement and directivity of motion with the fact that comes to make intentionally, it could be analyzed that was carried on a shoulder pole from process of modern racial movement, one instance of the tradition which is created. The rose of Sharon was created with modern tradition. It strengthened the ability of feminine motion was for and a tradition of the Korean race who passes over Korea. the Red Flag was presented with new tradition. It presented the directivity of feminine motion after 1920's. the Red Flag was presented in a process of Socialistic tradition that was focused on work farmer woman. the rose of Sharon sisters and the Red Flag had become a symbol of tradition that presented the directivity of feminine motion. And they was made to do the duty which is meaning to the modern nation and ability reinforcement of the nation. The invented tradition which Eric Hobsbawm comes to make was for a negative recognition about modern tradition, but our modern tradition as the national consciousness for feudalism was created is a possibility of saying that there is a difference from point.
