본 연구는 혜경궁의 <한중록> 중 세 번째 회고록을 바탕으로 발화자 혜경궁의 발화 양태를 분석한다. <한중록3>에는 중심 사건 임오화변과 관련하여 혜경궁이 다양한 양태를 드러내는데, 본 논의에서 집중한 것은 진리, 평가, 욕구의 양태이다. 진리의 양태에서 참인 진리값을 갖는 것은 사도세자의 죽음이 사적으로는 애통하지만, 공적으로는 의리에 합당하다는 것이다. 이러한 진리값은 영조, 정조, 혜경궁 등 각 행위자에게 공통으로 적용되지만, 이는 혜경궁의 해석에 의해 도출된 양태이다. 평가의 양태에서 부정적으로 나타나는 것은 영조의 행위에 대한 것으로 혜경궁은 이를 사도세자의 병증의 원인으로 지목한다. 욕구의 양태는 사도세자와 자신에 대한 혜경궁의 태도로 사도세자가 병이 없기를 바라고, 자신이 죽기를 바라는 태도에서 마침내 사도세자가 죽기를 바라는 태도로 나아간다. 평가와 욕구의 양태는 진리의 양태와 서로 충돌하면서 혜경궁의 분리된 세계 인식을 드러낸다. 진리의 양태는 일반화된 사적 애통과 이데올로기화된 공적 의리로 구성된 이상 세계의 표출이고, 평가와 욕구의 양태는 문제의 원인에 대한 분석과, 해결할 수 없는 한계에 대한 고통으로 구성된 현실 세계의 표출이다. 혜경궁이 구체화하는 현실 세계는 스스로 규정한 이상 세계가 공허한 거짓 세계임을 드러내면서, 이상 세계가 가정하는 도덕율에 의문을 제기한다.
This study analyzes the addresser Hyegyeonggung’s attitude to speech objects, that is to say speech modality based on her third memoirs of Hanjunglok. In her third memoirs of Hanjunglok, Hyegyeonggung reveals various modalities in regard to the main incident Imohwabyeon, I concentrate on the modalities of truth, evaluation, and desire. In the modality of truth, as the right truth value, the death of Sadoseja is very deplorable incident personally, but it is reasonable for the loyalty officially. The truth value is applied to the actors, that is Yeongjo, Jeongjo, and Hyegyeonggung in common, but it is deducted modality by the Hyegyeonggung’s interpretation. In the modality of evaluation, the Yeongjo’s act is appeared negatively and Hyegyeonggung considers that it caused the Sadoseja’s symptoms of a disease. In the modality of desire, Hyegyeonggung wants Sadoseja to be healthy, and Hyegyeonggung has change in attitude that she wanted to die first, but lately she wanted Sadoseja to be dead. The modality of evaluation and desire shows the divided world recognition of Hyegyeonggung crashing into the modality of truth. The modality of truth is expression of idealized world consisting of generalized personal grief and ideologized official loyalty, and the modality of evaluation and desire is expression of real world consisting of analysis of the cause of the problem and a torment to irresoluble limit. The real world which Hyegyeonggung gives shape to throws a doubt on moral law supposed by idealized world, revealing that the idealized world prescribed by herself is empty and wrong world.
