This study examines the effects of Korea-U.S.A. FTA on the export competitiveness of Korean industries. The effects of FTA on the export of nation's industries have been a long-standing matter of contention among scholars. To examine how Korea-U.S.A. FTA improves the Korean industries' export competitiveness, this study uses the Extended Diamond Model, an improved model of the Diamond Model by Michael Porter. The Extended Diamond Model consists of four determinants of the nation's industries‘ export competitiveness : factor conditions, demand conditions, related & supporting industries, and firm strategyㆍstructureㆍrivalry. The Extended Diamond Model is applied to the analysis of the Korean industries’ export competitiveness.Korea-U.S.A. FTA was found to improve the export competitiveness of Korean industries. Specifically, the factor conditions, demand conditions, related & supporting industries, and firm strategy, structure & rivalry were all found to contribute to the improvement of Korean industries‘ export competitiveness.
