Container transportation industry has been an important sector for economic development in Korea. The export oriented policies of Korea drove to expansion of the volume of international trade which resulted in huge container traffic in the major ports. This paper explores the dynamic relationship between the operating capabilities of Container Yard(CY) companies and logistic performance of liner shipping operators in Korea using extensive questionnaire survey and interviews. The major results stemming from the analysis is that adding transport capacity, human relations, marketing capacity variables has tremendously improved the explanatory power of the regression It also appears that the storage and material handling capabilities of the CY operator really matters and substantiality improves our understanding about the efficiency of the shipping lines overall operations.
