This study aimed to explore the perceptions and orientations of college students on plagiarism, especially those who study in English-related disciplines. A total of 119 college students from three different universities served as participants by responding to a survey questionnaire. The survey facilitated the participants’ responding to why they might plagiarize when they write a paper in English, how they would react to other people’s plagiarism, and why they believe plagiarism is wrong. The findings indicated that the tudents plagiarized when writing in English mainly because of their low English proficiency. The participants expressed a strong feeling of anger about other people’s plagiarism, but were reluctant to take action against it. They also believed that plagiarism should be avoided since it could make the person who plagiarized one’s idea a man of no conscience and principle. The results of this study imply that training programs on plagiarism should be designed based on students’ disciplines, learning stages, perceptions and orientations to be effective.
