이 연구는 평생교육 관점에서 EBS 방송콘텐츠에 대한 내용분석을 실시함으로써 EBS 방송콘텐츠의 내용 특성을 이해하고 평생교육에의 기여 관점에서 EBS 방송콘텐츠의 주제 선정 방향성을 제시하는데 목적을 둔다. 이를 달성하기 위하여 2013년 4월 한 달 동안 송출된 EBS 방송콘텐츠에 대하여 내용분석을 실시하였다. 그 결과 첫째, 법에 근거한 EBS의 기능을 중심으로 방송콘텐츠의 구성 특성을 보면 학교교육 보완 목적의 방송콘텐츠와 평생교육 관련 방송콘텐츠가 양적으로 균형을 이루고 있는 것으로 나타났다. 둘째, 평생교육 관련 방송콘텐츠에 대한 세부 내용분석 결과, 생애단계의 측면에서 보면 EBS가 성인보다 유아 및 아동‧청소년을 대상으로 한 방송콘텐츠의 제작‧편성에 높은 비중을 할애하는 것으로 나타났다. 학습주제의 측면에서 보면 인문교양 관련 방송콘텐츠의 비중이 높고 특히 외국어 능력 향상 목적의 학습주제가 많은 비중을 차지하는 것으로 나타났다. 셋째, EBS의 다채널‧다매체화에 따라 채널 및 매체별 명확한 기능분화의 경향이 나타났다. 이러한 연구결과를 토대로 평생교육에의 기여 관점에서 EBS 방송콘텐츠의 주제 선정 방향에 대하여 제언하였다.
This study aimed to explore characteristics of the broadcasting contents of the Korean Education Broadcasting System(hereafter EBS) with the lifelong educational view and to suggest implications to decide topics as broadcasting contents for improving lifelong educational function of EBS. EBS’ broadcasting contents which were aired for one month(April of 2013) were analyzed. The results showed that two functional contents were well balanced in terms of quantity between the complementary function for school education and the facilitative one for lifelong education. Secondly, EBS organized more broadcasting contents for youth and children than that for adults. Also the quantitative ratio of broadcasting contents related to humanities including foreign language skills was the highest in terms of topics. Lastly, each channel/media had a clear differentiated function according to diversification of channels/media.
