삼천리는 국내 최대 도시가스 공급회사로서 창업 이래 52년 간 지속적으로 매출 신장과 흑자를 보여 온 대표적인 건실 기업이다. 1960년대 시작된 정부주도의 경제개발정책 하에 삼천리는 인화와 국민 삶의 질 향상에 기여하고자 하는 창업자를 중심으로 우수한 원료확보, 기술개발, 생산성 혁신 등을 통해 창업 20년 만에 연탄업계 1위 기업으로 발전하였다. 이후 80년대부터 시작된 정부의 환경친화적 에너지 정책과 소비자 선호 등의 외부환경 변화는 삼천리로 하여금 도시가스사업자로 전환하도록 하는 계기가 되었다. 후발주자로서 도시가스사업에 진출한 삼천리는 성공적인 M&A와 공급권역 확장, 적극적인 배관망 설치와 기술 투자, 산업용 수요 개척 등의 전략을 통해 도시가스 산업의 선두로 성장하게 된다. 이러한 성장과정에서 사람을 중시하는 인화의 기업문화와 진실된 경영철학에 기반한 조직 내부의 변화 역시 경쟁력이 되어 왔다. 하지만 불확실성이 증가하는 경영 환경 속에 삼천리는 내외부적으로 생존가능성과 지속성장을 위한 또 다른 도전과 변화를 요구받고 있다. 삼천리는 “에너지에서 환경까지, 미래를 창조하는 삼천리”비전을 수립하고 에너지산업 중심의 핵심역량을 기반으로 급변하는 환경변화에 대응할 수 있는 성장동력을 확보하기 위한 사업다각화를 강력하게 추진해 가고 있다.
As the largest city gas supply company in Korea, Samchully has shown consistently a profit on revenue growth and a profitable business since its establishment 52 years. Beginning in the 1960s, under government-led economic development policy and public, Samchully had grown as a top company in the coal industry around the founder’s entrepreneurship through a procurement of raw materials, technology development, and productivity innovation in 20 years after foundation. Since the '80s the external environment changes had been begun with the government’s eco-friendly energy policy, including changes in consumer preferences, and Samchully converted briquettes business into gas. Even though Samchully entered as a newcomer to the city gas industry, Samchully has become a leading company in that industry through strategies such as a successful M&A, expansion of supply domain, aggressive investment in pipelines installation and technology, and pioneered industrial demand. In addition, Samchully’s corporate culture and business philosophy also has been very competitive. However, because of the increased uncertainty in the business environment, Samchully is being requested another challenge and change for the sustainable growth. Samchully has pushed strongly to diversify the business to have a dynamic force for new growth standing on baisis the core competencies of the energy industry with .the vision “from the energy to the environment, Samchully which creates the future”.
