본고는 분석심리학적 관점에서 내담자의 꿈 분석 사례를 개관한 것이다. Jung은 꿈을 포함 한 모든 정신현상을 개성화 과정(individuation process), 즉 정신의 전체성(totality)이라는 맥락에서 이해했다. 정신의 전체성은 분석심리학의 핵심사상으로, 분석심리학적인 인간관이나 정신병리를 보는 관점 그리고 치료에 관한 관점 등이 모두 정신의 전체성에 근거를 두고 있다. 분석심리학에서 꿈은 잠자는 동안에 무의식적으로 생기는 자연적인 사건으로서 자연의 산물이 며, 개성화 과정을 향한 정신현상으로 본다. 융 학파의 꿈 해석은 객관단계 해석과 주관단계 해 석으로 이루어지며. 확충방법(amplification method)을 통해 꿈 상의 의미가 드러나고, 꿈 계 열 분석을 통해 여러 꿈들의 밑바닥에 깔려 있는 공통적인 내용과 모티프를 더 잘 인식할 수 있 다. 꿈 분석에서 개인무의식과 집단무의식 개념을 이해하는 것은 매우 중요하다. 특히 집단무 의식의 원형상이 나타나는 꿈을 이해하기 위해 치료자에게는 신화, 민담, 전설, 종교 등에 관한 특별한 지식이 요구된다. 이상 언급된 내용이 실제 꿈 분석 사례연구를 통해 제시되었다.

The totality of the psyche is the core of analytical psychology, and the view of human nature, psychopathology, and therapeutic venture are based on psychic totality. In dream analysis, it is crucial to understand the concepts of personal unconscious and collective unconscious. Particularly, therapists need to be equipped with specific knowledge on mythology, fairy-tales, legend, and religion in order to understand the archetypal dream images of collective unconscious.
