본 연구는 국내 상담 석사 교육과정에서 제공되는 교육활동의 실태와 내용을 상담 석사생들의 관점에서 확인하고, 그들의 교육 경험과 만족도를 탐색하기 위하여 수행되었다. 이를 위해상담관련 전공이 개설되어 있는 일반 및 특수대학원, 전문대학원 석사과정에 재학 중이거나 졸업한지 3년 이내인 상담 전공생 139명을 대상으로 설문조사를 실시하였다. 상담 석사과정에서제공되는 교육활동을 크게 수업, 실습, 연구, 진로지도의 측면에서 살펴본 결과, 우리나라 상담석사과정 교육은 수업을 중심으로 이루어지고 있으며 상대적으로 실습 훈련이나 연구 활동, 진로지도가 충분히 이루어지고 있지 않았다. 이에 따라 상담 석사생들은 개인적으로 실습훈련 할곳을 찾아야 하는 어려움을 겪고 있으며, 지도감독이나 관리가 이루어지는 체계적인 실습 훈련을 받고 있지는 못하는 것으로 확인되었다. 상담 교육과 상담 현장을 효과적으로 연계할 수 있는 제도 마련을 위해 미국의 대학원 교과과정에서 제공되고 있는 상담 실습 훈련 및 상담 현장과 대학원 간의 실습 연계제도에 대하여 살펴보고 우리나라 상담관련 전공 대학원 석사과정에서 보완되어야 할 실습훈련, 연구 활동 및 진로 지도의 측면에 대하여 제언하였다.
The present study examined South Korean graduate students' educational experiences and satisfaction in the master's level counseling programs. A total of 139 graduate students reported their experiences according to four areas (i.e., lecture, practicum, research,and career service). Result showed that the graduate students perceived their graduate programs mainly focus on lectures but relatively lack practicum and research opportunities. Also, the students perceived that career services are very limited. Furthermore, the participants reported that they had difficulties with finding practicum sites and supervision on their own, which may raise a serious concern with receiving less-than-optimal practicum and supervision. Finally, the authors introduced a training model adopted in the United States to show how to integrate graduate programs with counseling centers.
