This study aimed to find out what was really happening in the primary English classroom. It was based on the naturalistic inquiry classroom research method conducted by observations and interviews with two English language specialist teachers and their students in grades 3-6 for the duration of a week. The school was located in a city of Chungcheong Province. Based on the results of the study, suggestions were made in terms of the curriculum and language materials, production and adoption of textbook materials, continuity, English teacher education and training, classroom language, teaching facilities, and teachers' workload. This study also called for more in-depth classroom research in various parts of the country in order to achieve more effective results in primary English language teaching.
