초등교직의 여성화에 대한 사회적인 논의는 여성화추세가 교육현장에 미치는 영향이 부정적인지 긍정적인지에 대한 단정적인 결론을 내리기 힘든 상태에서, 학교경영, 학생지도, 교육의 효율성 등 교육현장의 거의 모든 측면에서 부정적인 측면으로 치우쳐 온 것이 사실이다. 교직의 여성화가 초등학교경영에 어려움을 가중시킬 것이라는 우려는 사회 내에 널리 퍼져있지만 여교사가 남교사 보다 유리하고 우수한 면이 있다는 점은 잘 드러나지 않고 있다. 따라서 초등학교경영에서 여교사의 장점과 우수성을 부각시킴으로써 여교사의 특성을 재평가할 필요성이 있다. 교직의 여성화에 따른 초등학교경영활동 상에서 나타나는 구조적 문제점들을 극복하고 효과적인 학교경영을 위해서는 여성 중심적 관점에서 기존의 교직 여성화를 보는 시각이 새롭게 조명되어야 하고 학교경영에서의 여교사의 역할과 중요성이 새롭게 부각되어 여교사의 전문적 태도, 문화, 경험, 지식들이 교직사회는 물론 사회 전반에 영향력을 극대화시킬 수 있는 조건들과 가능성들을 탐색하는 방향이 되어야 한다. 이러한 방향성 아래서 본 고에서는 초등학교 여교사 증가현상과 실태를 간단하게 살펴보고, 여교사의 증가에 따른 초등학교경영활동상의 쟁점들을 논의해 봄으로써, 보다 평등한 교직 사회를 지향하기 위한 초등학교경영의 이론적 실천적 과제를 제시하였다.
Although it is hard to determine what effects the current trend of feminization of teachers have on education, it is true that many arguments tend to view the trend negatively in almost every aspect of school management including student guidance and educational efficiency. Despite prevailing concern in our society that the feminization of teachers in elementary schools will worsen difficulties in the education of children and school management, female teachers' advantages and superiority over male ones have not been highlighted. Therefore, it is necessary to reevaluate the characteristics of female teachers by revealing their advantages and superiority in elementary school management from a woman-oriented viewpoint. There must be efforts to have new views on the current trend of feminization of teachers to overcome structural problems in elementary school management raised by the feminization of teachers and to enhance the effectiveness of school management, and to promote conditions and possibilities for female teachers to maximize the influence of their professional skills, culture, experiences and knowledge not only over the educational field but also over the entire society through highlighting female teachers' role and importance in school management. In the direction, this study examined the phenomenon and current state of the increase of female elementary school teachers and discussed issues related to elementary school management raised by the increase to suggest theoretical and practical solutions for promoting an equal society of teachers in respect of elementary school management.
