The current study was proceeded on the Higgins' theory of self-discrepancy to identify adolescent's negative self-image forming process mediated by depression and anxiety which was explored focusing on moderating effect of social support. This paper analyzes based on the data of KYPS fourth version collected from 3,449 high school students. The results show that self discrepancies between ought to self and ideal self from the real self caused depression and anxiety, and such psychological tension influenced the forming of negative self-image. The results also show that social support has interaction effect between self-discrepancy and negative psychological tensions. This study discusses the implications from the findings and directions for further research related to the topic
