이 연구는 청소년을 둘러싼 환경변화에 적절히 대처할 수 있는 현장중심의 청소년지도자의 역할과 기능강화 전략을 모색하기 위해 시도되었다. 이 연구의 주요 연구결과에 따르면 청소년활동 현장에서의 청소년지도사의 역할과 기능강화 전략은 아래와 같이 요약 정리할 수 있다. 첫째, 청소년지도사의 전문성 제고를 위해 대학의 교과과정에 있어 전문성을 강화하여야 하며, 예비 청소년지도사들의 현장실습을 의무화하고, 부단한 현장과 학계의 업무 협력 및 교류가 이루어져야 한다. 둘째, 청소년지도사 자격검정과정이 청소년상담사나 사회복지사에 견주어 국가자격으로서의 차이가 없도록 정부와 관련기관의 노력이 있어야 한다. 이를 위해서는 청소년지도사 국가자격 검정제도의 개선 보완이 이루어져야 한다. 셋째, 현장에서 청소년지도사가 자부심과 긍지를 가지고 일할 수 있도록 하기 위해서는 우선적으로 청소년지도사의 사기를 진작시켜야 한다. 이를 위하여 관계당국은 청소년지도사의 직무표준화, 보수 및 신분보장, 청소년지도사의 활동영역 확보와 현장 배치에 대한 법적․제도적 보장과 보완이 되어야 할 것이다. 넷째, 청소년국가자격검정제도와 더불어 자격증 취득 이후 청소년지도사들의 전문성 제고와 직무수행에 요구되는 새로운 지식의 함양을 포함한 보수교육은 전문직으로서의 청소년지도사의 위상을 높이고 학계와 현장 간의 상호 연계와 청소년지도사들의 연대감의 형성을 위해 매우 필요하다.

The purpose of this research is to study on the functions and roles of youth leader to cope with changes in the environment. The youth leader's functions and roles emphasizing the field as follows : First of all, there is a need of educating youth leader to actively cope with social changes.
