이 연구는 세계무역기구(WTO)체제하에서 수출을 지원할 수 있는 간접적 지원수단으로서 중요시되고 있는 수출보험, 특히 한국에서 수출보험 인수실적의 대부분을 차지하고 일반적인 무역과 관련이 깊은 단기수출보험이 수출에 미친 영향을 고찰한다. 이를 위하여 1995년부터 20년간 지속적으로 한국의 30대 수출상대국에 포함된 24개국을 대상으로 하여, 한국의 GDP, 교역상대국의 GDP, 인구를 고려한 교역상대국 최대도시와의 거리, 단기수출보험 인수액, 그리고 교역상대국의 수출신용기관 존재 여부로 구성된 중력모형함수를 상정하고 추정하였다. 추정 결과 교역상대국의 GDP와 한국의 GDP뿐만 아니라 단기수출보험 인수액 역시 수출 증가에 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다.
We examine the effect of short-term export insurance on export using panel gravity model. The model by Head, K. and T. Mayer(2014) is assumed and extended to include the performance of short-term export insurance coverages in Korea during the recent 20 years from 1995 to 2014. By estimating the related parameters of the model targeting 24 countries which had been continuously within the largest 30 trading partners of Korea during the period, we show that the short-term export insurance coverage influences positively on the export in addition to those wellknown factors like the GDP of trading partner and that of home country.
