This thesis is s study on the Self-Narration that is related to the subject of the inner world and the consciousness of author based on it in Yeom, Sang-seop's early novels. The primary purpose of this thesis is not in the continuity of an essay on the writer but in the consideration on the meaning of which a characteristic of narration and a writer's consciousness in the early 1920's above all. A characteristic of this period is that these writers taking a serious view of the inner of human in the atmosphere of the strong self-consciousness ask about the modern self through the method of inner life's description. These self-consciousness and modern self is the starting point and the objective point for the 'real-literature,참문예' to the young lover of literature in the early 1920's. It's motto is the artistic merit and the truth. Yeom, Sang-seop's early novels also is in the same place. The traditional Self-Narration is produced in the efforts for granting certain meaning and keeping certain order to a part of the self-life. Yeom, Sang-seop's Self-Narration is in the early 1920's as the special historical context more than these general meaning. On the other side, the self-reflection which Yeom, Sang-seop's Self-Narration takes, differs from temporal literature which exaggerates 'self examination' without 'self reflection'. The Self-Narration in which the self-reflection and the self-control is, shows possibility of novel form to get out of dim express of sentiment and estrangement from actual life. Therefore we have to understand that his Self-Narration is not simple skill loading the subject of inner but form as the substance or spirit as the form.
