아시아 국가들의 카지노 산업에 대한 관심이 확대되고 있으며 전 세계 산업에서 차지하는 비중도 높아지고 있으며 우리 나라에서도 카지노에 대한 논의가 활발하게 진행되고 있다. 본 연구는 문제성 도박자들이 자신의 문제를인지했을 때 카지노에 대한 태도가 어떻게 변하는지를 분석하기 위한 것이다. 이를 위해 층화추출법을 사용하여2010년 6월부터 7월까지 두 달 동안 성인 남여 1,000명을 대상으로 설문조사를 실시하였으며, 설문항목은 문제성갬블 행동, 태도이론, 인지이론, 인구통계적 특성 등으로 구성하였다. 분석 방법으로는 빈도분석, 신뢰성 분석, 탐색적/확인적 요인분석 및 구조방정식 모형을 적용하였다. 연구결과로는 문제성 행동을 많이 보일수록 카지노에 대해더 관대하였지만, 자신의 문제를 인지하였을 때는 오히려 카지노에 대한 태도가 부정적으로 바뀌었다. 카지노 건설로 인한 긍정적인 효과를 부정하는 사람은 아무도 없을 것이다. 그러나 이에 대한 반작용으로 도박중독자 양상, 범죄증가, 부정적 지역 이미지 증가, 자살률 증가 등에 대해서도 균형있는 시각으로 바라보아야 할 것이다. 본 연구에서 밝혀졌듯이, 카지노에 대한 긍정적인 태도는 특정한 행동을 추동하는 매우 큰 영향요인이므로 갬블링 문제행동이 계속되어 도박중독에 빠질 수 있으며 문제행동에 대한 지각을 높여줌으로써 이러한 부정적인 결과를 초래하는것을 방지할 수 있다는 점에서 학술적, 정책적으로 의미하는 바가 크다. 구체적 정책 방안으로는 학교 단위에서의도박중독 예방교육, 사행산업 기업윤리 강령 등이 제시되었다.
The purpose of this study is to analyze how problem gamblers' attitudes toward casino change when theyrecognize their problem. The data for this study were gathered from 1,000 Korean adults who responded to thesurvey(stratified sampling method). The survey questionnaires consist of problem gamble behavior, cognitive theory,attitude theory and demographic characteristics. For the analysis method, frequency analysis, reliability analysis,exploratory factor analysis (EFA), confirmatory factor analysis (CFA) and structural equation model (SEM) wereapplied. The result shows that the more the gamblers show problem gambling behaviors, the more favorable attitudesthey show toward casino. A casino industry has mainly been discussed in the aspect of economic development oflocal community. However, we should consider harmful effects and consequences (the increase of problem gambler,crime, negative local image and suicidal act) regarding casino industry. When cognition for problem gamblemediates, positive attitude toward casino decreases. The positive attitude encourages relevant behavior. Thus, negativeattitude toward casino discourages gamblers from further gambling behaviour. Findings of this study provideimportant implications to prevention of problem addiction. As specific policies, gambling addiction preventioneducation by schools and a code of gambling industry ethics are provided.
