본 논문은 성별관계(gender-relations)를 중심으로 현대자본주의 국가의 동일성과 다양성 을 분석한다. 분석의 단초는 아리스토텔레스(Aristotle)의 질료와 형상개념을 중심으로해서, '자본주의 국가' 형상의 통일성을 '가부장적 자본주의 국가' 개념에서 찾는다. 또한 질료차이에 따른 다양성, 특히 성별관계의 차이에 의한 다양성을 '젠더 거버넌스 (gender-governance)'개념을 통해 유형화하여 분석한다. 분석의 순서는 다음과 같다. 먼저 '성인지적(gender-aware) 국가론'의 전개과정을 정리하며, 성별관계와 자본주의 그리고 국가의 관계를 고찰한다. 다음으로 현대국가의 형상으로서의 '가부장적 자본주의 국가' 개념과 그 일반적 특정을 알아본다. 마지막으로 개별 국가에서의 질료의 차이에 따라 나타나는 다양성을 라인형(독일, 스웨덴, 영미형(미국, 영국), 동아시아(한국, 일본) 자본주의 국가를 사례로 살펴본다. 이를 통해 성별관계의 차이가 여성의 경제적·사회적 지위에 미치는 영향을 추론한다.
The purpose of this paper is to clarify a relationship between gender and capitalist state, The study adresses the unity and variety of contemporary capitalism state from the viewpoint of gender-matters, gender-relations and gender-governance. Empirical tests for the theoretical results are conducted with gender-relations from 6 countries(USA, England, Germany, Sweden, Korea, Japan) classifying these countries into three groups This study shows that the varieties of gender-relations cause the varieties of capitalism.
