Reviews of the literature on this subject point to the inconsistency of the research results. The present study attempted to understand the direct relationships between job demands(work overload, emotional demands, and physical demands) and burnout (exhaustion and depersonalization) as well as job resources(importance of job and job autonomy) and burnout in the hotel context. In addition, our research focused on investigating the moderating effect of job resources on the relationship between job demands and burnout. Hypotheses concerning these relationships within the research model were tested using 277 usable questionnaires from a hotel operated in Seoul, Korea. The results showed that job demands and job resources had significant effect on the level of exhaustion and depersonalization experienced by F & B employees. Furthermore, our research findings indicated that job resources moderated the relationship between job demands and burnout. The practical implications for the ways that managers tackle the issue of job demands, job resources, and burnout were discussed.
