The purpose of this study is to investigate how residents' benefits and support for Alpensia Complex Resort development are related to resort development impacts perceived by residents based on a social exchange theory. A factor analysis was used to delineate underlying dimensions of resort development impacts and regression analysis was used to investigate relationship between tourism development impacts and support. The result of regression analysis indicated that positive economic impact, negative social impact, negative economic impact had an effect on residents' benefits and positive economic impact, negative environmental impact, negative economic impact had an effect on residents' support for the resort development. Furthermore, this study support well the social exchange theory because residents' benefits had a strong effect on their support for the resort development.
