The objectives of this study are to firstly analyze the economic impact of convention industry on a regional basis, based on an inter-regional input-output approach; and secondly to provide the basic quantitative data for decision-making in the field of convention policy. This study begins with a classification of convention industry, in conjunction with inter-regional input-output tables provided by the bank of Korea. The 16 regions in Korea are selected for the impacts analysis of convention industries contribution to each regional economy, focusing on multiplier effects of output, employment, income, value added between the convention sectors and other sectors. Comparing with output multiplier effects among 16 regions at the basis of average multiplier, Seoul region shows the highest output multiplier effects in the convention sector. The importance of this study has contribution to present convention related multiplier effect, on a regional basis, by using reliable input-output data.
