The objective of this study is to draw the experiential attributes of oriental medical tourism through in-depth interview among medical tourists. For the result of research analysis, the oriental medical tourism experiences were investigated in both ‘cognitive experiences’ and ‘affective experiences’. The cognitive experiences were categorized into ‘natural/ environmental’, ‘physiological/sensibility’, ‘social/relationship’, and ‘intellectual/ internal’ elements. The ‘natural/environmental’ experiences show that the oriental medical tourism has strong environmentally friendly elements, and the ‘social/relationship’ experiences show that there was high levels of mutual trust and sympathy due to the characteristics of the oriental medical tourism, when it comes to the diagnosis and treatment methods between the oriental medical doctors and patients. In case of ‘physiological/Sensibility’ experiences, treatment methods, which include acupuncture, moxibustion, and glass cupping, the physical relaxation and ease of tension are made, and in case of ‘intellectual/internal’ experiences, the patients are accumulating their own health diagnoses and health-related foundational knowledge through the oriental medical experience programs. Such result implies to suggest a new perspective in the designing and operating a more foundational and effective experiential programs in the oriental medical tourism industry in the future.
