This study aims to introduce the concept of ‘tourism imaginary (imaginaire touristique)’ and its relationship with cultural heritages and to demonstrate how it can be applied to tourism developement of heritage sites focusing on the case of Bulguksa, South Korea’s first World Heritage Site. As objects of artistic inspiration and emotional experiences that can visualize tourism imaginary, not only drawing, fiction, dance, opera but also historic stories related to Bulguksa were introduced. This study suggests to use tangible/ intangible contents which are necessary to construct ‘tourism imaginary’, space of imagination that could reconstruct the emotional complexities and area that nostalgie, fantasy, dream, myths, legends fonctions together (Wunemburger, 2003: 5).
