The purpose of the study is to examine the structural relationship of personality traits on problem-focused coping, mediated by emotional intelligence. In terms of relationships, the study explores the difference between two groups (students nonand majoring hospitality management). The results of the study shows that extraversion, openness to experience, agreeableness, and conscientiousness has positive relationship with emotional intelligence, whereas neuroticism has a negative relationship. Also, the emotional intelligence has a positive relationship with problem-focused coping. There is significant difference between non- and majoring hospitality management students in terms of the relationship between emotional intelligence and problem-focused coping. Implications and suggestions for future research are discussed.
