AB - The purpose of this treatise is to research the change of economic welfare because of the distribution of the general grants system. Researches about the economic welfare of the general grants system have mainly quoted the treatises analyzing the median voter model by Bradford and Oates(1971). But they have the limitation of analysis because of the partial equilibrium analysis. Also, although Wildasin (1983,1984) tried to analyze the economic welfare of grants in a viewpoint of general equilibrium analysis, it is difficult to use the model to try the corroborative analysis. Therefore, this treatise tried to survey the economic welfare of Korea's general grants system, using Wheaton's Compensating Variation(1977). The result of this treatise showed that the general grants system increases the economic welfare and the augmentation is greater than that of the specific grants system.
