본 논문에서는 이인직의 「혈의 루(1906)」와 민준호의 「마상루(1912)」, 작자미상의 「절처봉생(1914)」을 분석의 텍스트로 삼아 한국 근대 초기 서사담론의상호텍스트성을 밝히고자 했다. 근대 초기의 서사 텍스트는 순수 창작이나 우연한 돌출에 의한 것이라 하기힘든, 과거나 미래의 각종 담론들과 상호 의존하는 텍스트로서의 성질을 지니고 있다. 대부분의 근대 초기 서사 텍스트들은 텍스트의 교차에 의해 변형된과거의 텍스트들을 흡수하였고, 또한 미래의 텍스트들에 의해 흡수되고 변형되었던 것이다. 위에 언급한 세 개의 텍스트 가운데 후기 신소설로 볼 수 있는 「마상루」와「절처봉생」은 많은 화소와 모티프를 공유하고 있다. 야담의 근대 초기적 개작이라고 할 수 있는 「마상루」의 전근대적 작법을 「절처봉생」이 상당 부분 수용하고 있는 것이다. 그러나 「절처봉생」은 근대 초기의 계몽적 이데올로기 담론을 담아낸 서사텍스트 「혈의 루」와도 다대한 친연성이 있음을 확인할 수 있다. 가족 구성원이전란에 의해 헤어지고 다시 만나는 과정에서 각각의 발전을 도모하는 식이다. 어린아이 인물에게 교육의 기회를 부여한다는 장치는 가장 뚜렷하게 텍스트를계몽적 담론체계화하는 작법이다. 이와 같은 신소설 작품의 상호텍스트성 확인은 복합적이고 입체적인 과정 속에서 계몽적 작법의 틀이 형성되어 있었음을 상기시켜 준다는 데 의의가 있다.
This manuscript is to examine the intertextuality in Korean early modern narrative discourse, especially three texts of new-style roman Tears of Blood, Tears on Horse, Finding way out of a desperate situation. Early modern narrative texts would rather have intertextuality with all sorts of discourse of the past or future than have the nature of genuine writing or accidental projection. Most of the early modern narrative text can be explained by intertextuality. Among the three texts, mentioned above, Tears on Horse and Finding way out of a desperate situation regarded as the latter term new-style roman share various tale elements and motif. Finding way out of a desperate situation accepts considerable portion of premodern Writing method of Tears on Horse which is considered as early modern adaption from historical story. But I can make sure that Finding way out of a desperate situation is very close to Tears of Blood, the narrative text containing discourse of early modern enlightening ideology. The similarity to Tears of Blood is that family members part from each other by war, they promote each development in the process of meeting again. The strategy to provide child character with educational opportunity is the typical writing method of enlightening narrative discourse. In this way the examination on the intertextuality of new-style roman texts remind us the forming process of the modern enlightening narrative texts.
