Novel as The Work or Contents -Study on Narrative as Original Work

원 소스 멀티 유스(One Source Multi Use)는 마케팅 용어이다. 원 소스 멀티 유스의 대상으로서의 ‘작품’은 우리가 근대적으로 발명했던 ‘작품’이라는 개념과는 다르다. 전통적 의미에서 작품은 “전적으로 완결된 fertig”것이며, 문장과 낱말들이 상호간 배열 속에 명백히 규정되어 있는 다수의 이질적 층들로 조성된 형상이다. 작품은 다른 장르로 변용 가능하다. 하지만 이 정리는 하나의 원작이 다른 작품으로 변용될 경우 별개의 다른 작품으로 생성된다는 의미를 포함하고 있다. 최근 문학, 문화계는 작품을 산업적 차원에서 접근해 각색이라는 말 대신 원 소스 멀티 유스라는 용어를 사용하곤 한다. 그렇다면, 지금 논의 되고 있는 원 소스 멀티 유스에 대한 논의들은 과거 작품의 변용 및 차용, 원작 개념으로서의 작품 간의 관계와는 어떻게 다른 것일까? 대개 이 변용은 문자 매체인 작품을 시각 매체인 영화나 뮤지컬과 같은 장르로 옮기는 과정을 지칭한다. 따라서, 본 고는 작품을 콘텐츠 혹은 소스로 부르는 이데올로기적 변화의 근원을 살펴보고, 역설적으로 멀티 유스가 불가능한 오로지 언어로만 즐길 수 있는 작품으로서의 문학의 가능성을 타진해 보고자 한다. 작품으로서의 문학은 독자의 상상력으로 구축해야만 하는 언어 매체 특유의 비지정영역에서 그 고유성이 비롯된다고 할 수 있다. 오정희의 「저녁의 게임」이나 한 강의 『채식주의자』 연작은 문학 작품의 이러한 언어 매체 특성을 잘 보여준다. 그에 비해 스핀 오프 방식으로 영화를 설명하고 보충하기 위해 사후적으로 출간되는 소설들은 작품이라기 보다는 상품에 가깝다. 따라서 본 고는 작품으로서의 소설과 상품으로서의 소설를 비교하고 그 의의와 의미를 고찰하고자 한다.

This paper aims to demonstrate novel as the work. The term of O,S,M. U,(one source multi use) is for Marketing theory. The meaning of a work as a O.S.M.U is different with the work that we have invented long time ago. The work has been meant totally "fertig(close)" things. The work can be adapted for another genre. But adaption is a way to make a work into another. The adapted work is another unique work. O.S.M,U is currently watched by the term that Korean government and the cultural world. Most notable was a phenomena that the term of work is substitute for contents. Maybe it will replace the meaning of work and the concept of adaption will be alter to multi use. So, What is the difference with the work used for a long time and new concept as a contents? And what is the clear difference with a modification and multi use?Therefore this study is to identify the origin of ideological foundatin of current phonomenon and trace a things its source. Paradoxically, it have also been on the prowl for some works willing to resist being multi use. The own property of novel as a work came from a unique indeterminate area of language means. Oh's {Today and the Other Days} and Han's {The Vegetarian} can be the example to resist multi usage and be unmarketable. But Spin-off works are more products, rather than a work. And we must distinct between a novel as works and products.
