본고는 동사 ‘-’, ‘*금-’ 뒤에 접사 ‘-작/즉’이 결합하여 형성된 ‘감작’류 어휘 가운데 ‘감작’류 부사를 중심으로 그 파생 및 의미 분화 양상을 통시적으로 살피는 것을 목적으로 하였다. 이들은 근대국어 이후 ‘ㆍ’의 비음운화와 어두경음화 현상을 거치면서 다양한 형태로 나타나게 되었고 그 과정에서 특정 음운 유형이 일정한 쓰임을 담당하게 되면서 여러 어휘로 분화되었다. 그런데 ‘감작’류 부사는 음절 위치에 따라 ‘ㅡ’나 ‘ㅏ’로 변화하는 ‘ㆍ’의 일반적인 변화 패턴을 따르지 않고, 각각의 어형이 서로 의미 차이를 드러낼 수 있는 방식으로 다양하게 변화하였다. 이는 국어의 의성어나 의태어가 양성모음형, 혹은 음성모음형을 취하면서 조금씩 다른 의미를 갖는 것과 동궤의 현상이다. 이러한 ‘감작’류 부사의 변화는 ‘감작-’류 용언의 변화와 매우 밀접한 관련을 갖는다. 결과적으로 현대국어에서 ‘깜짝/깜짝깜짝’[심리], ‘굼적/꿈적/꿈쩍’[몸], ‘굼적굼적/꿈적꿈적/꿈쩍꿈쩍’[몸], ‘곰작/꼼작/꼼짝’[몸], ‘곰작곰작/꼼작꼼작/꼼짝꼼짝’[몸], ‘끔적/끔쩍’[눈], ‘끔적끔적/끔쩍끔쩍’[눈], ‘끔찍이/끔찍끔찍이’[심리] 등의 어휘는 동일 기원어로 볼 수 있다.
This paper aims at historically examining the derivation and meaning differentiation of the ‘komcok’ Adverb which is formed by a combination of affix ‘-cok/cuk’ behind the verbs ‘kom-’ and ‘*ku-’. Following the dephonologization of ‘ㆍ’ and word-initial tensification in Modern Korean, the form has changed differently. During the process, it was differentiated into a variety of words as the specific phonetic type took a role of certain usage. Meanwhile, the ‘komcok’ Adverb in Modern Korean evolved in a variety ofways that show different meaning in each inflection, instead of following a convention of ‘ㆍ’’s change into ‘u’ or ‘a’ according to the location of syllable. That is, the properties of Korean language where the onomatopoeia and mimect have slightly different meanings according to bright vowel or dark vowel also appear in the ‘komcok’ Adverb. The ‘komcok’ Adverb has historically changed being closely related to the ‘komcok’ Predicate. On balance, it was confirmed that the verbs ‘kom-’ and ‘*ku-’ are the common origin for the following derived words in Contemporary Korean: ‘kkamccak/kkamccakkkamccak’[psychology], ‘kwumcek/kkwumcek/ kkwumccek’[body], ‘kwumcekkwumcek/kkwumcekkkwumcek/kkwumccekkkwumccek’, ‘komcak/kkomcak/kkomccak’,‘komcakkomcak/kkomcakkkomcak/kkomccakkkomccak’[body], ‘kkumcek/kkumccek'[eyes], ‘kkumcekkkumcek/kkumccekkkumccek’[eyes], ‘kkumcciki/kkumccikkkumcciki’[psychology].
