本研究では、韓国のチャレ儀礼の食に関するパフォーマンスをアメリカの社会学者、ゴッフマンのドラマトゥルギー（演出論）から分析する。また本研究では、ドイツの教育思想家、ヴルフの儀礼研究同様、儀礼の「パフォーマンス」に着目する。ここでは、ドキュメンタリー方法のうちビデオ分析を用い、以下の四つの問題について考察する。第一に、チャレ儀礼の際に、食にまつわるパフォーマンスは観られるだろうか。第二に、チャレの参加者は、どのようにチャレを演じ、どのような形で一族の絆を強いものとするのか。第三に、チャレの「舞台装置」はどのようなものであり、それを背景とする「チーム」の演技は、演技を観る側、すなわち「オーディエンス」にどのような劇的効果を与えているだろうか。最後に、チャレ儀礼に典型的な食のふるまいが見られるだろうか、またその作法はどのように後の世代に継承されているだろうか。
First, I introduce a view of the performance appropriate for the research regarding eating behavior at funeral ceremonies in Korea. For this purpose, I consider the “performative turn,” a paradigmatic shift in human and social sciences in German-and English-speaking countries. In this paper, rather than considering “what happens” at the funeral ceremony, I focus on “how the members perform these rituals.” In particular, the dramaturgical approach by Erving Goffman helps us discover how the “team,” i.e., the “performing individual or group,” presents its “self” on the “stage,” which “role” it plays, and how it treats its “stage props” and “costumes” at the funeral ceremony. Furthermore, we investigate where the team plays, either “front stage” or “back stage,” and whether it identifies with its role or maintains its distance from it. Next, following Christoph Wulf’s ritual research, we observe how the practical knowledge of rituals is earned by members by interacting mimetically and whether the “ritualization” occurs, meaning that the human being does not use the form as a ritual yet because he has not repeated it often enough. In this paper, we describe Goffman’s dramaturgical approach and Wulf’s ritual research before introducing an example of our analysis of the data from our fieldwork in Pusan, Korea.
본 연구는 한국의 차례 의례(식)에서의 음식에 관련된 퍼포먼스를 미국의 사회학자인 고프먼의 ‘드라마투르기(연출론)’기법을 통해 분석했다. 또한, 독일의 교육사상가인 불프의 의례연구와 동일한 방식으로 의례의 ‘퍼포먼스’에 주목 했다. 여기서는 다큐멘터리 방법에 의한 비디오 분석을 통해 다음과같은 네 가지 문제에 대해 고찰하였다. 먼저, 차례 의식의 실제 과정에서 음식과 관련되는 퍼포먼스에대해 관찰할 수 있을 것인가? 둘째, 차례의 참가자는 어떤 방식으로 차례를 연출하고, 그리고 어떤 형식으로 일족의 유대감을 강화시켜가는가이다. 셋째, 차례의 ‘무대장치’는 어떻게 구성되어있으며, 그무대장치를 배경으로 하는 ‘팀(구성원)’의 연출(기)은 연출(기)을 보(관람하는)는 청중들에게 어떠한극적 효과를 주었는가이다. 마지막으로, 차례 의례(식)에서 전형적인 음식을 올리는 행위는 어떻게 이루어 졌으며, 또 그 작법(행위)은 어떠한 형식으로 후세대에 계승되고 있는가이다.
