This thesis is the analysis on the structure of Nong to ,the long novel, which was written during the liberative period by Lee Tae jun. This novel has the formation that the historical scheme in the historical materialism is combined with the private history of the character 'Eok seo'. The process of the intergradation to the socialist state ,through the age corresponding to the ancient status system and the feudal age, is shown with the change of his hierarchical position. In the beginning part of this thesis, the relation between the character and the environment around him is analyzed, which could be found in the intergradating process. And, the analysis about the symbol which accidents in the novel hold and the characters as a mediator is added. Next, the structural dualism which is one of the structural particularity in this novel is analysed. The first part of the novel which is dealing with the life under the rule of Japanese imperialism has the nature of novelistic reality, however, in the last part, which includes the process of land reform, has the nature of epic. These structural dualism is the result from the combination of the changed writer's ideology, extraordinary nature of the circumstances at the age and the illuminism nature in the novel. Finally, what this thesis intend is whether this novel, Nong to, can be related with the nature of his short stories under the Japanese rule. This essay is intended to describe the structural similarity of the novel as well as the difference between the novelistic structure and the world view and the content of the novels written under the Japanese rule by Lee Tae jun. It is to the social ideology in Nong to that the Romantic nature which Lee Tae jun had held is even connected.
