본 논고는 러시아정교의 민족주의적 특성을 러시아정교의 제3로마이론과 포스트소비에트 시기에 러시아정교와 이슬람의 다양한 이념적 변화를 중심으로 규명하고 있다. 본고에서 중점적으로 살펴보는 내용은 러시아정교의 민족주의적 성격이다. 본고에서 제기한 러시아 민족주의 이념으로서 러시아정교라는 콘텍스트는 포스트공산주의 시기에 여전히 내부에서 구동되는 동력기였다. 본 논고는 러시아정교의 민족주의에 관한 담론과 러시아정교의 전통적 민족주의적 특성과 역사성, 그리고 포스트소비에트 시기의 러시아정교성에 관한 내용으로 이루어졌다. 그러나 러시아정교의 민족주의적 특성은 러시아사회내의 전통적인 구조였던 다민족, 다종교 사회의 다양한 요소 등과 결부되어있다. 그러므로 러시아정교의 민족주의적 특성은 그 역사적 기원으로 설명되어질 수 있지만, 여전히 다민족, 다종교 사회인 러시아에 있어서 러시아정교의 이념적, 정신적 향방은 러시아 이슬람과의 관계 속에서 면밀한 검토가 있어야 한다는 점을 강조하였다. 즉 이러한 관점에서 다종교 문화와 소수 민족 그룹이 혼재된 러시아 사회의 정신적 이데올로기는 종교적 공존의 가능성과 동시에 개별적인 종교 정체성의 발전 가능성이 지속적으로 검토될 때에 더 정확히 파악될 수 있을 것이다. 현재 러시아정교회의 당면한 문제는 러시아정교회가 신비적이고 수행자적인 정교의 이념과 역사성을 회복할 것인가, 아니면 전세계를 향한 선교와 사회도덕을 주창해야할 것인가에 대한 부분이다. 전자는 내부적 전통성이며, 후자는 외부로 움직이는 원심력 요소이다. 러시아정교회는 소비에트 시대에 정치적 이유로 다종교성과 수용성, 관용성을 갖추지 못했다. 과거와 현재, 그리고 미래의 포스트소비에트 공간은 바로 종교의 역사성과 이념, 기원, 그리고 분쟁과 공존의 패러독스 사이에서 그 생명력을 가지며 추진되어온 핵심적 정체성의 활동 무대라고 정의될 수 있다.

This articles explores Russian Orthodox nationalism focused on Third Romism, relation between Russian Orthodoxy and Islam. The main goal of this paper is to overview russian nationalism's diverse form through the russian's national identity and Russian Orthodox historical process and identity. Chapter II review Russian Orthodox historical character- nationalism's role and its process. Chapter III analyzes Third Romisms and Russian Orthodox nationalism. Chapter IV examines Russian Orthodox and Islam's religious nationalism in the postsoviet era. After presenting origins of the concept and its major interpretations in the past, this paper considers its reincarnations(Third Romisms) in Russian Orthodox nationalism, such as Orthodox Nationalism/Fundamentalism, its origins of Orthodoxy, Islam's historical concept and its historical process in the current Russian Federation. To summarise, historically there have been several major understandings of the concept with distinctive Russian Orthodox nationalism's ideals attached: its original meaning in Muscovy was primarily inward-looking, promoting ideals of a protective Orthodox empire. The aim of this article is to present identity in Russian nationalism's recognition through Islam's ideological process and current geopolitical concept.
