본 논문에서는 한국과 러시아의 영웅서사시를 한편씩 선정하여 영웅을 키워드로 삼았고, 이에 대한 한국인과 러시아인의 의식이 어떻게 다른지를 대조해 보고자 하였다. 대체로 서사시에 나타난 영웅들은 그 서사시를 사용한 민중들에 의해 공유된 개념이다. 따라서 민중이 오랜 세월 지내오면서 스스로 그렇게 되기를 희망하는 이상적인 인간상을 ‘영웅’으로 내세우기도 하고, 또 이 ‘영웅’의 다양한 상황에 대한 대처방식 등을 대조해 봄으로써 민중의 삶의 태도 또한 엿볼 수 있을 것이다. 물론 양적으로 한편의 서사시로 그 민중이 가지고 있는 대표적인 인간상을 찾는 것이 무리라고 여길 수 있겠으나, 두 서사시가 가지고 있는 고대문학에서의 위치와 두 편의 서사시 에 담겨있는 내용 및 표현에 일반성이 담겨져 있다고 여겨져 여러 편을 대조한 결과와 대동소이할 것이라 판단된다. 분석방법은 두 가지의 관점으로 하나는 구조적 관점의 분석이고, 다른 하나는 내용적 관점의 분석이다. 구조적 관점의 분석은 프롭의 개념인 불변요소를 응용하여 사용하였고, 내용적 관점은 언어학에서의 의미적 관계와 화용적 관계라는 개념을 활용하여 사용하였다. 결론적으로 한국인과 러시아인의 근본적인 차이는 한국인은 영웅을 하늘과 연결지어 사고한다는 특징이 있고, 러시아인은 지상의 강한 동물 등을 연상한다는 특징이 보인다. 이는 결국 사후에 대한 인식의 차이로도 연결되어 한국인은 하늘로 향하여 있고, 이에 반해 러시아인에게는 미 종결된 지상의 행복한 동화적인 삶으로 연결되어 있음이 발견된다.
This article is reflection of my findings after compare and contrast of two selected poetries which depicts heroism in Korea and Russia I have selected the word ‘hero’ to be the keyword then analyzed how ‘hero’ was perceived differently by minds of both countries. Hero is men made figure representing a person traditionally believed to be a model being for rest of the humanity. Hence, we suppose behaviors of this figure reflected on these poems to be ideal attitude of its people and their values. In this article is tried to compare the different perception of hero in minds of peoples. As for methodology two different method of analysis were used; one is structural analysis and the other is content based analysis. Structural analysis mainly focused on conceptual point of view in the poetry as known as the “constant element” idea developed by a Russian scholar Propp. And for the content based analysis I’ve applied “the semantic relation” and “pragmatic relation” of linguistics. Drawing from the results, Koreans perception of hero is much different from that of Russians. Whereas Koreans have related a hero to Gods, the Russians’, on the other hand, perceived hero much differently. Hero is the strongest of all mankind. This difference continues on to difference in hero’s life after death. For most Koreans, once died the next logical prediction leads to life in heavens, unlike Koreans, Russians believe in eternal happiness on the earth.
