이 글은 언어사전으로서의 국어사전 편찬의 현황과 전망을 살펴보는 것을 목적으로 한다. 이를 위하여 국어사전 중 가장 언어사전적 특성이 강한 <연세 한국어사전>(1998)과 <고려대 한국어대사전>(2008)의 사전 정보를 비교 분석하였다. 두 사전을 살펴본 결과, 표면적으로 언어사전임을 표방하고 있는 <연세 한국어사전>은 내용적으로도 언어사전적인 성격을 가지고 있었다. 반면 <고려대 한국어대사전>의 경우 표제어의 구성 등 거시구조에 있어서는 백과사전적 성격이 강했으나 미시구조에서는 뜻풀이 등을 제외하고 언어사전의 성격을 상당 부분 지니고 있다는 것을 알 수 있었다. 두 사전 모두 상업적 목적보다는 학문적인 목적에서 출발한 사전이기 때문에 국어학적인 연구 결과가 사전의 내용에 많이 반영되어 있다는 특징을 가지고 있다. 이 글에서 논의한 두 사전의 분석 결과는 질적으로 풍부한 언어적 정보를 지닌 새로운 국어사전의 편찬에 도움을 줄 수 있을 것이다.
The aim of this paper is examining present condition and prospect of a Korean language dictionary publish as a language dictionary. For this, this paper compared and analyzed Yonsei Korean Dictionary(1998) and Korea University Korean Dictionary (2008) which most strongly characterized as a language dictionary in the Korean language dictionaries. The result of examining two dictionaries is that Yonsei Korean Dictionary which superficially claim to be a language dictionary has the personality of the language dictionary in contents. While, in case of Korea University Korean Dictionary has the strong personality of encyclopedia rather than a language dictionary in macro-structure such as entry construct, etc. However the micro-structure of Korea University Korean Dictionary has the strong personality of a language dictionary except meaning explanations, etc. Because both two dictionaries start in the pursuit of academic purpose rather than commercial purpose, two dictionaries are characterized by the contents which the results of Korean linguistic studies are much reflected in. This paper expects that the result of analyzing two dictionaries is reflected in the publish of new Korean language dictionary which has a lot of linguistic information.
