This study set out to investigate the significance of Jeseok Buddhist Temple(帝釋寺), which is under construction in Iksan(益山), through the enshrinement of Diamond Sutra(金剛經), analyze its meanings, and examine Diamond Sutra's religious and ideological significance in connection with the royal authority. Jeseok fails to transcend the world of common people even though he is a heavenly god, which connects him to the royal authority. The religion of Diamond Sutra emphasizes the prolongation of life, which is related to the hope for Muwang's longevity as in Mireuksajiseotapsaribongangi(彌勒寺址西塔舍利奉安記). It is impor- tant for Jeseok to study and chant the Prajna-Paramita Sutra to win a battle against Asura, which provides a religious background for Diamond Sutra being enshrined at the Jeseok Buddhist Temple. Emphasized by Diamond Sutra, the Jungdo Ideology is closely related to the royal authority. It sheds light onto Ijehapmyeong(二諦合明), which can be explained in relation to the royal authority, and is connected to Bulseongseol(佛性說) of Samronhak(三論學). That is, it offers unification and total harmony as it can be the background for the existence of the royal authority beyond confrontations among different powers.
