The purpose of this paper is to explain the language thought of Wangli in Contemporary China. Wangli was the Chinese language theorist in this time. We appraise Wangli to be a transitional thinker in Chinese language thought context. He lived in modern through contemporary period which Chinese suffered by Western imperialism invasion. He raised patriotism by hoping Chinese people standing themselves. His thought was expressed in Chinese language and character theory establishment. Wangli was influenced by Western language theorists and had had the deepest base in ancient Chinese language and culture. He did effort to set the rule of whole historical scope in Chinese language. He discovered inner law of rhythms and outer structure of words and phrases in ancient Chinese language. He did his best in setting the norm and standard in Chinese language and character adapting all the period. Character reformation was the other thought of Wangli. Standard language authorization and character reformation was each other related agendas in contemporary Chinese language theory. "Ideal Dictionary" idea was the lifelong academic behavior in Wangli`s life. All of information was provided in the ideal dictionary, for example, in both ancient and modern words and phrases and usages of all times. The education of language was the most important theories in Wangli's world of language thought. He put the importance in historic identity and accepting and comparing through other developed language theories. Those was his consistent thought.
