TIn this paper, the archetype of time represented in the Chinese fantasy dream stories is invested in depth and the epical significance of it is discussed. In contrast to many previous researches which have emphasized on the spaces in Chinese fantasy stories on dreams, I investigated the time in the literature and tried to find the inherent archetype of it. First of all, the intrinsic nature of dreams is examined from the viewpoint of meanings and classification of grammatology presented in ancient Chinese literature. It reveals that something can be seen without opening eyes and it reflects the subconscious minds based on reality. By examining the typical fantasy dream stories such as Yeo-ong, Soon-woo-boon, and Ang-do-chung-eui, both the flow of time and the interval of time can be found. In the flow of time, the process of projecting the ideals aspired in real life into unconsciousness is discussed in relationship with the natural flow of time. In the interval of time, the difference of time interval between in real life and dream is discussed. In conclusion, the plausibility and fantasia of story is increased and the time represented in the fantasy stories is the prospects of one's experience which can be expressed with the word of time-in-oneself.
