Research theses are said to have increased rapidly in quantity for the last 20 years, yet its transmitting power to the academic circles in Korea is not that big yet. Each researcher's fulfillment of various projects far from his/her professional area, and literal reaction to pending issues between Korea and Japan, such as the matters of history textbooks, Dokdo Island, and enforced sex slaves, tend to exhaust study capability. In order to overcome this situation, at first, comparative history and inter- disciplinary joint researches are desperately necessary which can help indi- vidual researcher's field of study become expanded and deepened and com- municate with and go ahead into the academic circles of Korea so that the study on the modern and contemporary history of Japan can find its rightful place in the academic world in Korea. Not only diachronic study penetrating the modern and contemporary history of Japan, and furthermore, the whole eras of Japanese history, but also synchronic study covering East Asia are de- manded. Second, translation and historiography, which can be the base of study for the succeeding academic generation, are urgently necessary. In order to take root into the academic world of Korea, we need to translate basic data so that the subsequent academic generation can use it easily, conduct joint researches based on the work, and create the climate to accumulate study in Korea as the Japanese academic circle in the U.S.A.
