The aim of this paper is to investigate the effectiveness of Screen English education combined with service-learning. Service-learning is a pedagogical approach which allows college students to help others by applying what they learn to real-life situations and to reflect on their learning. It is an effective way of promoting students' language learning and helping them to accomplish their personal goals. This is achieved through students' active participation in a meaningful service-learning program, interactive reflection, discussions, and communication. The results of a case study integrating service-learning pedagogy and Screen English instruction are discussed. Ten college students volunteered to participate in a service-learning program that involves using the movie, The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe and were asked to keep journals over a period of 16 weeks. Students' journals were analyzed to investigate the effectiveness of Screen English combined with service-learning. The findings of the study which can be helpful for English teachers in designing their own effective service-learning program using Screen English are discussed. Pedagogical implications based on the findings are also suggested.
