본 연구는 일반 유치원에 다니는 일반 유아의 장애인식 개선을 위하여 장애 이해 프로그램을 개발하고 그 효과에 대하여 평가하였다. 장애 이해 프로그램은 만 5세 일반 유치원의 하루일과 내에서 장애인식 개선을 위한 활동요소가 통합되도록 구성하였으며, 장애인식에 대한 교육목표가 활동내용과 교사의 상호작용 방식에 반영되도록 하였다. 본 프로그램의 평가결과 교육집단 일반 유아가 비교집단 일반 유아보다 장애 유아에 대한 장애인식 태도와 장애 수용 태도가 개선된 것으로 나타났으며, 일반 유아의 놀이행동과 놀이 행동 하위요인인 사회적 자발성, 인지적 자발성, 즐거움의 표현, 유머 감각 증진에 긍정적인 효과가 있었다. 따라서 일반 유아의 장애인식 개선을 위하여 유아교육 장애 이해 프로그램을 통합 실시한다면 일반 유아의 장애인식 개선에 기여할 수 있을 것이다.
In this study, we developed and effect of a disability awareness program to improve the disability awareness of young children. The program is developed for five-year-olds in kindergarten. The components of a program to improve the disability awareness are intergrated into the daily activities of kindergarten curriculum through children's books. Educational objectives of disability awareness program are emphasized and reflected in the content of activities and the way of teacher's interactions. This program is effective for the improvement of young children's disability awareness.
