이 연구의 목적은 대구광역시 이익집단을 사례로 하여 이익집단의 활동조건에 따라서 이익표출활동에 차이가 존재한다는 가설을 경험적으로 밝히는 것이다. 여기서 활동조건이란 개별 집단이 처한 내외적 환경, 즉 추구하는 목표, 자원, 리더십, 재정후원 그리고 갈등을 의미한다. 이 연구가 활동조건에 주목하는 이유는 한국의 이익집단정치가 다원주의 이익표출체계로 나아가는 전환기적 상황이라는 점을 고려하여, 좀 더 미시적인 관점에서 이익집단정치의 특성을 규명하기 위해서이다. 연구결과를 구체적으로 살펴보면, 1) 목표 중 특별이익은 권력수준활동과 권력수준활동의 선호도에, 반면 공공이익은 대중수준활동과 대중수준활동의 선호도에 정(+)의 영향을 가지고 있었다. 2) 자원 중 상근자수는 대중수준활동에 부(-)의 그리고 예산은 대중수준활동에 정(+)의 영향을 가졌는데, 이러한 경향은 사익집단에서 더 두드러졌다. 3) 리더십의 민주성은 대중수준활동과 대중수준활동의 선호도에 정(+)의 영향을 미치는 있었는데, 이러한 경향은 사익집단에서 더 강하였다. 4) 재정후원은 대중수준활동에 부(-)의 그리고 권력수준활동의 선호도 정(+)의 영향을 가지고 있었고, 후원의 영향은 공익집단에서 더 강하였다. 5) 갈등은 권력 및 대중수준활동에 정(+)의 영향을 가지며, 이는 사익공익집단 모두에서 두드러졌다.

Is There Any Causal Relations Between Interest Articulation Activities and The Environmental Conditions of Interest Groups? : A Case Study of Daegu Metropolitan City This paper attempts to identify the causal relations between the interest articulation activities and the environmental conditions of interest groups. This study takes a microscopic view, or a more precise pluralistic approach. To do this, I analyzed the interest groups of Daegu metropolitan city. This analysis demonstrations that 1) While special interest has positive influence on the activities and on the choice of those activities at the elite level, public interest has positive influence on the activities and on the choice of those activities at the public level; 2) among resources affecting interest articulation activities, the number of full-time workers has negatively affected the activities at the public level, while finance resources have positively effected these activities; 3) a democratic leadership had positive influence on the activities and on the choice of these activities at the public level; 4) financial assistances negatively affected the activities at the public level, while they have a positive effect on the choice of the activities at the elite level; 5) conflicts had positive influence on at the elite and the public level activities.
