Reinhold Niebuhr's Context of the Theory of Social Justice Nam, Tae-wook Lecturer Department of Theology Seoul Theological University The purpose of this study is to examine Reinhold Niebuhr's context of the theory of social justice. Niebuhr's ethical works have not been established on the basis of academic criteria, it is ultimately necessary to focus on his life situation that made him possible to do theologico-ethical work according to his genuine life experience. In this study I will prove as the real force against social injustice, economic inequality, racism, and political discrimination, particularly in the United States of America. On the other hand, this study will state Niebuhr's critical point of view against German Nazism as well as the USSR's stalinism in the early 20th century. Then it will provide Niebuhr's understanding of historical events as the real life situation that we should accept these without any distorting judgment.
