This paper investigates how to develop the revision of the Korean dictionary for elementary school students, focusing on the case of the third edition of Yonsei Korean Elementary Dictionary published by ILIS(Yonsei Institute of Language & Information Studies). The revision covers both adding new lexical information such as new entries and modifying or updating previous information. We suggest the new entry words include vocabulary, used in the new elementary school textbooks for the new national curriculum issued in 2012, and learners’ expressive vocabulary used in their compositions. The more neologism, dialects, North Korean words, slangs, spoken forms, grammatical forms, and newly-issued standard forms should be added to the revised version because they involve educational contents in the subject of Korean Language of the new national curriculum. Besides new entry words, this paper discuss words’ origin, synonymic differences, and main textbooks’ terminology as new reference information for the revision. Finally, we investigate significant hyperonyms to add to the revised edition. In order to improve previous lexical information, we examine how to elaborate synonyms and antonyms, grammatical information, and homonyms' guide words.
