이 연구의 목적은 국정교과서 6학년 2학기 초등 사회과 ‘세계 여러 지역의 자연과 문화’ 단원을 중심으로 사회과 수업에서 다문화 시민성을 형성할 수 있도록 다문화교육 수업안을 개발하여 적용하는 것이다. 이를 위해 다문화 시민성의 개념을 검토하고 다문화 시민성의 하위 요소 세 가지를 추출하였다. 이를 바탕으로 2009 초등 사회과 교육과정을 분석하고, 협동적 실행 연구를 통해 다문화의 개념과 다문화 시민성의 하위 요소 세 가지에 대한 인터뷰 자료와 3차시의 수업안을 개발하였으며, 3주에 걸쳐 수업안을 적용하여 수업으로 구현하였다. 다문화 시민성 형성의 변화를 알아보기 위해 개발한 인터뷰 자료를 가지고 수업안의 적용 전과 후에 사전 인터뷰와 사후 인터뷰를 실시하였다. 수업안의 적용 결과는 전과 후를 비교·분석하여 그 결과를 질적으로 해석하였다. 이 연구 결과 연구대상 초등학생들의 생각과 태도에 변화가 있는 것으로 나타나 다문화 시민성이 형성되어가는 것을 확인할 수 있었다. 이 논문은 학교 현장에서 다문화 시민성을 형성할 수 있는 초등 사회과 수업안을 개발·적용함으로써 초등학교 교사들에게 하나의 실행 연구 방법을 제시하고 있다.
The purpose of this paper is to develop and apply teaching-learning course plan for the formation of multicultural citizenship in elementary social studies focused on the unit “Nature and culture of many parts in the world” of the national textbook for sixth grade, second semester in elementary social studies. For this purpose, we examined the concept of multicultural citizenship and extracted three lower elements of multicultural citizenship. On the basis of this, we analyzed the 2009 revised curriculum of elementary social studies and developed interview materials concerning the concept of multiculturalism and three lower elements of multicultural citizenship through cooperative action research and taught class in applying teaching-learning course plan during three weeks. We interviewed in advance and after the development of data, and before and after the application of teaching-learning course plan in order to gauge the multicultural citizenship formation. Form this research, thought process and attitude of elementary school students toward subject of study changed and we gauged formation of multicultural citizenship. This paper proposes the action-based research method for elementary school teachers through development and application of elementary social studies teaching-learning course plan to form multicultural citizenship at schools.
