Social capital refers to connections within and between social networks. Social capital tends to share the core idea that social networks have value,just as physical capital or human capital can increase productivity both individual and collective, so do social contacts affect the productivity of individuals and groups. Trust is reliance on another person or entity. Having faith in others and believing them. This study is to investigate the present situation and causal structure of social trust in China. To do this,set of hypothesis concerning the relationships between trust in people, trust in social-institutions, trust in governmental-institutions and general social trust. Governments of municipalities directly under the central government are first-level local state administrative organs. In China, there are four municipalities directly under the central government, namely Beijing,Shanghai, Chongqing and Tianjin, and which is the spatial object of this study. Based on the results of this study, trust in people have a influence on trust in social-institutions, trust in social-institutions have a influence on trust in governmental-institutions and trust in governmental-institutions have a influence on general social trust in four municipalities in the same way.
