This study was an exploratory study to discuss the introduction and possibility of community business as a means to revitalize the fishing region. The purpose of this study was to survey fishing region residents’awareness of community business and derive a way to apply and revitalize the community business within the fishing region. The results of the survey are as follows. Firstly, residents believe that the central or local government's support is essential in order to revitalize the community. Secondly, people believe that the community business contribute to the local community. Thirdly, they believe that civil participation is the most important factor in a successful community business. Fourthly, people want direct support in terms of labor cost. Also, residents are most satisfied when the organization and human resources involved in the community business are responsible. Last of all, securing funds seems to be the biggest obstacle and problem. In short, the study results show that local residents were positive towards participating in the community business and thought highly of its effectiveness. They also thought that alternative suggestions on participation and the roles of local residents should be specified in order to overcome expected obstacles.
