<松柏篇>은 鮑照가 각기병을 앓으면서 자신의 죽음을 예감하고 지은 「自挽詩」이다. 전시는 모두 10단으로 나눠지는데 장마다 환운을 하여 내용의 단락을 구분하였다. 단락별로 각각 시간의 추이에 따라 전개될 상황을 묘사하였다. 제 1단은 생전의 질병 치료 상황을 그렸다. 제 2〜4단은 각각 생과의 결별, 임종, 영결식 장면을 묘사하였다. 제 5〜6단은 각각 매장 직후의 생에 대한 미련, 지하 세계의 적막과 고통을 그렸고, 제 7〜9단은 일주기 이후의 무덤 정경, 무덤 속의 열악한 환경과 가족과의 소원함, 복상이 끝난 후의 적막함을 묘사하였다. 제 10단은 시향에 성묘를 온 아들의 애통해하는 모습을 그렸다.
Song Bai Pian or Ballad of the Pine and the Cypress(松柏篇) is a dirge mourning his own death, it was written while he was suffering from beriberi. The poem is divided into ten sections, by the elapse of time. The first section is a sketch of medical care in his lifetime. The next three sections described scenes from his death to funeral. The next two sections is descriptions of his lingering desire for life, and the loneliness of the underworld. The next three sections described the scene of his grave and poor conditions of the underworld after the first anniversary of his death, and the solitude after the end of mourning. The last section is a sketch of his son’s visit to his grave after annual ancestral rites.
